Connectors

I'm looking for some sort of wire disconnect for my a pillars.

I'd like to be able to have 1 connector that can connect 4 wires (2 speakers)

It'd be nice if it were kind of small. (Or at least flat)

I thought of using a trailer wiring harness, but you have to use the wires included with the harness, so I'd be soldering to the wire instead of the actually connector.

The only other 4-pin connector I've seen is a REDCO Mini 4 Pin XLR. I think two of those connectors will just be too bulk to hide behind the pillar/top side of dash.

This is what I'm working on right now, but I don't have everything wired yet:
Parts Express:Molex 4 Pin Connector Kit .093" 2 Pcs.
The kit comes with enough to do two sets like you are saying (i.e. two male plugs and two female plugs with all pins included). You can install them without the tool (just need a crimper) but if you want to disassemble them you have to have the little tool.
Anderson powerpole, build them up like legos.
I used the flat trailer wire connectors once in a pinch.

18-22 awg - I need 14 awg. If they are the same as computer 4-pin molex connectors I want none of those.

I'd use them if they were a little better at holding themselves together.

Chad, this is another one of those threads I KNEW you'd chime in on.

Maybe next time I'll just shoot you a PM.

I use a pair on my sub enclosure too for removal, and every other damn thing 12V powered in my shack/shop.
I guess I should have searched. I swear I did a few times.

I looked up andseron's website and I think the little PP10 (10 amp power pole) are going to suite my needs well.

A 4 pin disconnect will end up being 1/2" x 1/2" by 1" roughly - unless I'm really bad at math.
go with the 30A shell sizing, dunno if that's compatible with the 10A or not, they are more commonly available. You can buy ****-tons of them off ebay for cheap from ham radio sellers.
I think the Anderson 30A connectors may be a little bulky for this application. I use them pretty regularly and the quality is really good but you may be able to use an AMP or Molex connector, which would be smaller (but as mentioned, you do need the right crimper). Is the overall size of the connector an issue?
Ive been using Speakon connectors from Neutrix.
