I was just wondering in a three way setup, which would you go with?

The 7 inch ref speaker or the 8 inch ref?

7's can go in a small enclosure. 0.3 cu ft sealed is recommended, you can go as low as 0.15.

8's require a much bigger enclosure, 0.8 cu ft.

As far as sound goes, I'm not sure about the 7" because I only own the 8". The Dayton Ref 8"s gets looooooooow, and sound oh so good at it. I have mines in a .8 cu ft enclosure and absolutely love them.

Dunno.

Basically, my older brother gave me his Yamaha 3way bookshelves, read about the Dayton 8s and decided to replace the stock Yamaha with the Dayton. So, to answer your question, I'm using stock crossovers from the Yamahas, don't know exactly where they're crossed at.

It depends on the use you have in mind. More cone area will mean more output...
