im getting in on the group buy for a dcx2496. here's an email i got today reguarding the GB.

http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=64561

_____________________________________________

Thanks for the interest. The current GB is for DCX
and DEQ units only. If there is interest in other
stuff I'll setup another group buy after this one..
This is the first time I've tried something like this
so I want to keep it simple for now..

I've forwarded you the updated prices and GB info
below :

Gentlemen.

I have updated pricing and availability information.

I've added a few people to the list who requested
information since the last update so I'll repost the
rules of GB again..

1) These prices are below the minimum advertisable
price. Authorized dealers are allowed to discount
these products but they cannot be advertised below a
minimum level. As such please do not post them
anywhere. One person in particular asked me to e-mail
a mailing list, If these prices are advertised in such
a manner my friend can loose his dealership so I will
simply stop the group buy. This is the reason I want
to do everything through e-mail.

2) having said #1, Everyone is welcome to
participate, I'm not trying to exclude anyone by not
posting prices on open forums. If you have friends who
want to be involved please have them e-mail me and
I'll include them in the e-mails.

3) Prices in the GB include shipping to the
continental USA. Any shipping arrangements outside he
continental USA will be additional and quoted
individually.

4) I don't want anyone to feel like I'm trying to do
anything secretive/shady/fraudulant by doing this
through e-mail so I've copied Cal (DIYAUDIO moderator)
on this e-mail. Also, if you wish to speak with me in
person feel free to e-mail me and we can speak on the
phone.

5) Unless someone can come up with a better idea I'll
ask that everyone send me another e-mail requesting
what units you want, and the shipping zipcode. Once I
have a count of the orders, I'll send out a count of
orders and final price. After the price is finalized
I'll collect the money, get the products, and
distribute.

--- Ok now on to the new stuff ---

The DCX2496s are on back order with behringer and have
to be brought in from off-shore. They should arrive
here in about 4 weeks. The DEQs are available right
now. My friend got updated shipping quotes from
Behringer and we've got finalized pricing.

The good news is that the 5 piece price has not
changed, but the discount for 10,15, and 20 units
won't be as good as when shipping was cheaper. The
DCX was affected more than the DEQ since its being
shipper from over seas :( Here are the new prices :

***PRICES CANNOT BE POSTED.....email DIY_newbie for price list.***

Some people have asked about the A500 amplifier and
I'm trying to get shipping information so we can get
price quotes..

Since the DCXs are on back order for 4 weeks. I'd
like to keep the group buy sign up going until
10/21/05 to let as many people sign up as possible.
I'de like to have the money collected by 10/28. If we
get enough interest in the DEQs we could complete that
purchase earlier since they are in stock right now..

So far I've got 4 definate orders for DCX and 2
maybes. and 3 maybes for DEQs...

they're currently the cheapest/performance ratio eq/xover option right now. ( if you can find suitable P/S that is ) That's probably the only reason that's holding me back from getting one, I have yet to see a P/S ,that worked flawlessly acrossed the board.

You need a laptop to control the dang thing though, but lucky for me i have one. hehe. =]

They can work easily WITHOUT a computer, that's the inherent design. Although the computer makes it easier, I have set up numerous systems using them for their intended purpose without a computer.

The devices that you DO need a computer for are things like BS Soundweb and most of the Media Matrix boxes... Soundweb is BADASS!

Of course you can control it without a laptop. but it's tediious without one, and you won't be able to utilize anywhere near it's potential without a laptop, esepcially the 30 band eqs. I've never used a behringer, correct me if i'm wrong, but this is the concensus i got from reading up on the unit

Nope, you can get to it all from the front... Just make sure your prescription for your glasses is up to spec :) Aside from the Ashly Protea unit it's one of the easiest I have used! Behringer hit it on this one for us pro guys and it's wonderful that it's within reach for the DIY folks.

I actually bought Josh's old 2496 combo and denonford deck it was ran with an inverter and I am currently running it with the same inverter. I considered a 12v P/S but I dont have any noise now so why? better to have the flexibility to take it in the house if I ever wanted to IMO.

If you want a good 12v supply talk to Rob M over at Carsound.com heres his link http://never.net/powersupply/ Lots of good reviews.
Hope that helps keep in mind thes things need a balanced audio signal to work there best.
