I am thinking about going digital out of my iphone using a Pure i20 and sending signal via optical to my Bit Ten. However, my amps do not have optical in so it will be sending analog out of the Bit Ten.

Will there be any noticeable difference?

might depend on your amps and drivers. when i used a cambridge DAC with my airport express in my car (apple airplay via optical to the DAC), i noticed a difference in clarity and channel speration between that connection and line out from the airport express.

My setup is factory HU, Bit Ten, JL XD700/5 powering Active Voce's, a Kenwood KAC-8105d powering a JL 10w3.

What are your thoughts? Also, how did you power the airport express.

probably won't be much of a difference. i made a power supply for the airport express and wired it directly to the airport express PCB.

Compare for yourself. Take a home cd player and run it into the bit ten using the toslink cable. Then precisely level match the inputs and switch between the two and see

If there is no differance remember that there might be further degradation if you use the headunit for volume control versus it being in fixed level out during the comparison
