I am very excited to be pairing my Esotar 650's with the 110 tweeters but the larger faceplate poses an install challenge for me. I'd like to avoid doing anything fiberglass related until spring when I can work outside...any ideas for ways to install these now? I'd like to keep them up high in my A-pillars.

Thanks!

I've always wondered about those tweeters.... how the heck you install them without custom kick panels? Personally, I would like to have them up on the dash but that would be one big midrange/tweeter pod up there. Would have a hard time seeing to drive. :laugh:

Not the Esotar 110's, but the Dyn T-380. Jerry Niebur made new face plates for me that a little smaller in diameter...opened up a few more options for mounting. These are my sail panels in my Dodge Ram...I don't know how you H3 truck is set up on the interior, but I thought maybe this would help....prob really tough having 110's sit around not being used!!

Yeah that looks NICE! I like the darker emblem-less faceplate so that it kind of hides the tweeter from would-be thieves. I don't have much of a sail panel in my truck, unfortunately.

I am thinking of adapting an MDF baffle to my A-pillars for them and then wrap the whole thing in speaker grill cloth. I am attempting to avoid fiberglass because it is in the 20s-30s in Seattle right now. And if I go with fiberglass, I'd want to add a pod for the mid too.

The 110's arrived a day early yesterday and already driving me crazy just sitting in my office :D

I just installed a set of three way dynaudios in the doors of my 2009 Colorado. I think it is a very similar chassis. I originally wanted to use the a pillar, but there wasn't much room there to work with, both width and depth. I ended up putting them on the top/forward of the door panel, which took a little metal cutting(but not too much) to get them to sit flush. The colorado has a plainer? Panel to work with than yours, just a pretty much flat surface. I'm not happy with how far back towards me the soundstage is, though. And I'm running active without a dsp, so dialing them in is taking a lot of time. Still not there yet.
The dynaudio tweets seem to have a very wide dispersion to me, like they are pointed right at me, no matter where I'm at.
Since I've cut up my doors, I wonder if I should have mounted them in the corners of the dash reflecting off the windshield, to bring the image forward.
But, i think the a pillar pod for the three way would be pretty huge in the truck, let alone just that big tweeter. In the Ram it might not be in the way, but the H3 doesn't have as much real estate to work with.

LOL I was considering putting 70-10D RAALs and Accuton C79 mids in my A-pillars but 1. the vendor I ordered the RAALs from did not deliver so I finally got my refund a few weeks ago and 2. I cannot find a pair of NOS C79 no matter how hard I look. No one wants to give up their set and Accuton will only sell you one from their reserve inventory if you have a damaged one...and they want full MSRP :( But probably better that way, I'm trying to squeeze the maximum performance that I can get out of stock locations and no fiberglass work.

There are literally five parts that the H3T and the Colorado share which has made sourcing aftermarket stuff nearly impossible because nothing for the Colorado fits the H3T, even the JL Stealthbox, Q-forms kickpanels, suspension lifts, etc. Which means you have to go custom one-off for anything in the H3T=complicated and costly, two things I am trying to avoid to retain resale value and simplify support.

But I must have these 110's so I will make it work :)

Allow me to ask maybe a bit off-topic question..

At the moment I have midbass planned on the dashboard, L3se already installed with a tweeter from the JBL GTI series on the A-pillar;

since I am planing on upgrading to the Esotar line, would it be better to get the midrange and then add my Infinity ribbons, or just get the Esotar110 to complete a 2 way active front setup?

Sorry again for the off-topic, but my question has also to do with positioning the tweeters.. They seem to have best freq response mounted on-axis..
