I got a 2010 jetta on a lease so cant do much under the hood :worried: I currently am gettin a Pierce audio wmd 10 d2 in a ported box and running it off a panasonic amp pushing 380wrms bridged with a 2 farad cap which kept voltage in my old car never lower than 13v. in my jetta the stock alt is rated at 140amps :) for stock electrical is very well done i know first thing is always big 3 but because of lease that will be an issue. I am going to buy a AudioQue 1200d which is stated at 1200wrms at 1ohm. i know the relation of them with dd audio and would guess it will push 1200wrms at the least idk if they are underrated amps i just know a quality product at a good price. i am running 0 gauge amp wiring kit than distribution block which will be going into 4 gauge to the amp and cap. I would assume that a 2 farad cap will not be able to keep to keep stable voltage at 13v + running over 1000wrms. So my question is what should i do about electrical should i run a bigger cap, a power cell battery? Is a capcell or batcap basically a power cell? At 140amps will a second battery hold more of a burden on the alt having to charge two batteries?

If you can't touch any of the equipment, then all you can do is drop in a good battery and mind your volume.

Personally, i'd toss the cap.

2nd battery won't do any good unless you bump while you're parked. You might take comfort in knowing that your amp will not always be drawing 1200 watts.

A second battery close to the amp in back can help keep your voltage from dipping too far. We put a system in an 85 el camino with a kinetik KR5112 up front and a KR1212 in back on 1900+ watts and it rarely dips below 13v on a stock alt that is 110 amp. We are putting in a 230 amp alt but as it sits now it would take a lot to cook the amps. A Kinetik battery is also less resistance than a flooded wet cell battery they recharge more easily.

Thanks for the replies. Yea i have heard about the cap just being more of a strain. I am just looking for stable voltage and wanting to be able to get a full 1000wrms out of the amplifier well i know 80% efficiency. if that but just looking to never dip under 13v. I am breaking it down right now between getting a kinetic hc600 or a capcell. for basically lets say 1400wrms max maybe 1000-1200 on occasion if i went for a capcell would 300amps x 3 seconds be able to work?

I run 1.-low something kW RMS on a stock alt, 2 AWG wire and stock battery up front and big 3 in 4 AWG, and I have zero problems.

I ran a Blade SE6175 (6x175) and a Sony XM2000R at 4 ohm mono (1200wrms x 1 of class A/B power) on stock electrical, 1/0 power and ground. Playing music, no problems. You'd be surprised what a stock electrical system can handle if you aren't beating the hell out of your system all the time.
