My stock alt is kinda low amperage wise + my toyota has an annoying voltage regulator so I bought a Singer 200A alternator (150A idle) to give it some more juice.

When I did my last setup I ran a Singer alt with an XS series AGM battery under the hood. My current battery (duralast gold) is simliar to a stock battery but is only 6 months old so i'd rather not replace it if I don't have to.

Since this new alt is going to produce more power than what I should be pulling is AGM battery that much of a necessity ? It was my understanding that having extra AGM headroom is good for those that see voltage spikes/start pulling from the battery but technically if my voltage never drops should a regular style battery be fine ?

Thank You

It is often easier to understand things doing them one thing at a time.
And there is no rule both need to happen at once.

Is the battery working ok?

I would suggest proper isolatoer and Lithium battery in the back. AMG batteries are out dates with constant power.

See the blue lighting box?? That's lithiumless battery... 12 lb that holds my system without much of an issue
