I want to know where @captainbuff imports his women from. Oz at least in the cities is so multicultural there's every flavour you could ask for already. And I'm not sure he's a real captain or buffed. I'd like to see documented evidence and pics 馃ぃ

Not that aussie men ever tell tall stories 馃槃
I confess...I am not a real captain. I am The Captain.
As for the buff...well i could send you a shirtless pic; but I'd really prefer not to..,just kinda feels...gay? LMAO
In truth...my last relationship was pretty awful; and since then I have watched my mates get divorced or split and have issues with their kids and through the courts....
I have become a bit bigoted in that arena I guess...

I was just teasing anyway 馃槃. Ive seen lotsa seperations too. Fortunately mostly amicable or at least pragmatic. If people dont get too resetful or go psycho. Most have been 50/50 custody or an agreed balance. Seen 1 nasty over the top accusation of domestic abuse and kids and mum moved interstate. Seen 1 psycho bitch with rich family and lawyers screw the best dad you can imagine into limited access. Seen quite a few genuine domestic abuse cases including my sister control freaks and gaslighting and physical violence. Some of the smartest, confident, capable women i know close friends of mine reduced to wrecks. And most of those still went equal custody. Maybe the laws in SA are different. But still more than 1 woman a week killed in OZ by a partner or ex. There's a male violence problem in OZ thats entrenched and needs to be fixed.

Gee...to pull up at the lights next to a V8 anything and not be immediately abused as 'gay' (yeah...that is heavily 'euphemised') would be a nice start...
Thats hilarious. Such a typical OZ car culture thing to do. Childish but funny. My 2 best mates since we were 6 in 1974, one has the most beautiful M3 20yo the one with the great engine all original. His daily drive is an Audi A4. Other mate has STI WRX he's spent so much on now its faster than the M3. Every time i see him he's replaced another bit of it with carbon fibre. Ironing board on the back. We do give him shit sometimes in fun. Its so fucking loud when his son was in the child seat in the back he should have been wearing ear protection. So anyway I'm the one with the practical car turbo diesel challenger station wagon. Low range box diff locks light truck tyres cargo barrier roof racks goes anywhere with 4 or 5 adults everyones camping fishing or golf gear.

Hilarious story WRX mate missed his brothers wedding. On a remote spot on yorke peninsula. Gravel road was so corrugated WRX suspension so stiff and track tuned massive wheels lowest profile tyres couldnt even keep the car in a straight line or on the road. Had to stop and wait for a lift. So much for AWD should have rally tuned it 馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ

Classic South Park...love it! Americans really cannot do a decent job of an Australian accent...lord have mercy trying a New Zealand accent!

Hmm...tough call, but I'm leaning towards the crocodile.
At least I'd still have one working nut...

Nah all good mate (y) yourself and Holmzy having a chuckle at my expense is all good! Life serves you enough 'serious BS' as it is!
On the flip side...that is an interesting stat. I have only seen one close example of domestic violence; but it was the wife against her husband (who was my close mates brother and a reasonable mate). She would tee off on him and on the kids, in the end he had to get a VRO (Violence Restraining Order) against her. She had taken off with another guy and left her kid from a previous relationship and the kid they had to him! Despite proven infidelity it was still years in the courts for him to take full custody of their kid and the SOCK (some other [r]unts kid). Pretty much broke him; financially, emotionally and mentally.
That said...there are reasonably frequent adverts on TV about domestic violence. I used to train with a cop at the gym and he said they were called out all the time for domestic stuff...but the women just wouldn't walk away. I can only relate what he said...he thought it was just ridiculous that the women didn't walk away.
I can honestly say that I have never come across it personally...but whenever I've heard of that sort of issue there has always been two predominant factors:
The extreme 'lower class' (for want of a better word) and alcohol. Always booze involved...

Yeah I get where you're coming from and most of the time it doesn't phase me...but I would have to disagree about how funny it is when it becomes dangerously aggressive (cars trying to run me off the road, dudes throwing bottles at my car as they drive past); that really isn't childish or funny...and no I am not joking. Understood where you were heading though mate ;)
Ironing board on the back.
Now that is the sort of sentence that should end up in someone's signature ROFLAMO...blahahahaha that was classic mate!

Yeah man...and you'd be the guy that every second weekend would be having a mate ask if he could borrow your wheels so he could pick up something from the hardware store! As much as a WRX is a fun little car to roll around the streets with...I think I have mentioned that I am doing renovations to my house...and not having access to a set of wheels that I can actually put some building materials in is a REAL PITA. At one point I contemplated buying a bunky ute just for that reason.

On a different topic...you mentioned previously with some specific knowledge about biology and the varying types of wildlife in Australia. I assume you have some training in Biology or something related? That would be a fascinating thing to learn about! I am a Civil Engineer and realised gradually over the years that there is a hell of a lot more to life than my training and work experience of '1+1=2'. How did you get into that field and what led you to Australia (and then away from it!)?

Don't mean to pry mate...I'm just genuinely interested in people with differing knowledge and backgrounds...I am in a way 'done' with my years of math and science and there are so many awesome things to learn about (y) you can squash all the Redbacks you want with your hands though mate. Those fuckers get the shoe or some spray and then the shoe or some other means of dismemberment. I have a a little cat that is getting on in years so I make sure I vaporise those little shits with a decent amount of cathartic foul language as well

Ive seen female abusing male. My other best mate who had a hummer H3 at the time was married to a psycho french african woman. We were out at lunch with a female friend a relationship counsellor. H3 was describing how she was behaving. Counselor said that domestic psychological abuse. We said no way. She said "just imagine if a man did that to a woman" we listed all the things and went holy fuck you are right he is being abused. It was a revelation. Now ive spotted numerous cases of women emotionally abusing men. But they generally dont kill them. Dont pour petrol on them and kids and set them on fire in a locked car.

Heres my 5kg18 month old maniac boy with the brain of a kitten and the body of an adult. Hes so affectionate and playful. But strong willed. Watching him and my wife in a battle of the wills is hilarious. He mostly ignores the water squirter. He's a bit of a handful. We got him after we lost our girl who was almost 23 and never made 3kg and was a bit better behaved.

I wouldnt want my cat bitten by a redback either. But they are delicate and fragile on a flat surface. Id never try and kill a sydney funnel web with bare hands. Maybe a flamethrower. Those are seriously scary.

I'm born and bred South Aussie. Love the bits of WA ive seen. Perth Freo, Rotto all the way round the coast to Albany. Love to get up north see Kimberley and shark bay and ningaloo reef and the whale sharks.

We should have more off topic threads. Ironing boards and pet cats maybe 馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ

Why not get a gun?
I 100% get and understand where you're coming from...but 'live by the sword, die by the sword'.
I stand by my right under 'Common Law' to defend 'me and mine'...but I'd just rather walk (drive) away if that chance is available.
Pull a blade or a gun and that opportunity is gone. 'One goes to the morgue and the other to jail'....

I hate to do a 'yeah nah' but I will here.
Yeah...nah I haven't seem that...and I sure as hell hope I never do see or hear about it...
Domestic stuff can go wrong - we all had ex GF's or wives - but there is a line to draw at what is reasonable. Sadly I wish the courts didn't contribute to some dudes losing the plot...but there is no defence for those sort of actions...
That shit is messed up bro.

No that isnt funny thats fucking stupid running someone off the road. Id get a dashcam.
Without a word of a lie I can recite this story...
I wasn't in my WRX (I was driving a Nissan Pulsar Hatchback...nice enough looking car but nothing special) but I had a Holden Commodore stuck up my ass as I pulled off from the lights (not sure what they are in the US...Holden is GM and a Commodore is their mid sized sedan). I indicated to get in the other lane (let him past) and he did the same, I stopped and let him go to the next lane and as he 'gesticulated irately' at me I gave him the middle finger.
He proceeded to try and hit my car with a baseball bat (missed and dropped it); then he ran me off the road. I will admit that I was pretty much in shock/disbelief at this dudes issues and so I didn't really think logically. I had my drivers side window down and he came around muttering nonsensical idiocy and looking inside my car. As i turned to look at what he was looking at put a left square on my right cheek (Australia...cars have different driver's sides!).
I'm not an antagonist but I'm also not a pussy...I've been in fights before and put dudes down. On this occasion I honestly can say that I was just so blown away that the dude was so riled up over nothing that I didn't defend myself. I sat there dumbfounded for a few seconds and he took off and then I took off. I had a girlfriend who was a cop at the time and apparently I wrote down the wrong number plate. If they had found the dude it would have been 'assault occasioning grievous bodily harm' because my right eye completely closed and was bloodshot throughout. He would have had to have had a clean record to keep from some jail time.

That was in a 2003 Pulsar. In a 2016 WRX I even get fellow pre 2015+ Subaru brothers talking shit to me.

My head unit allows a dash cam and I'm all for it...and next time I don't care what the situation is...

If a dude run me off the road and exits his car looking for some I will attempt to drive past him; if that can't happen I will run him down.

Yeah that could look like murder on a dashcam. Be careful
Yup...agreed; and then some.
I won't go into other stories; but I have caught the wrong side of the law just for defending myself.
This is the world we live in and it just isn't cool.
I have never killed anyone or severely injured anyone for the record!

Heres my 5kg18 month old
W.T.F...? 18 months? That brother is definitely in the front row; he has 'Prop' written all over him

Yeah now you talking...I'll find a pic but I befriended a female pedigree Birman (though she was pedigree she had a kink in her tail and instead of the quintessential ' white socks' all Birman's have she had an imperfect one on her front paw...so they were basically giving here away). They couldn't breed from her - and she was the runt of the litter - so she suited me perfectly ;)

You cannot see from this photo but they have the brilliant blue eyes :)
IMG_0024.JPG

Has been around since she was 3 months and is now...15? 16? Not sure! Birman's are not known for their longevity and she is blind in one eye now so I am making the most of the time we have left together.

Definitely meant to say that 'Funnel Webs' are the bad ass mofo's of the spider world as far as I am aware...we don't get them over here but AFAIK if you get bitten it is pretty much 'ring your missus and tell her you love her' and that's about it?

Im an aquatic ecologist by training spent lotsa time working on creeks in the flinders ranges bush camping. Then all over SA including The Murray and some marine stuff too. Awesome man...I think I mentioned I am a Civil Engineer...and your note of being a 'lot closer to engineering than the green environment I started in' is not lost on me man...possibly not for the best reasons though.
I totally believe in protecting the environment and our planet; but I would have to say that towards the end of my work as a Project Manager I was spending most of my time platitudinous towards OSH Guys, Environmental Guys, Quality Assurance Guys...jobs that should have cost $3 million to do wound up costing double that because of the unnecessary bureaucracy. That might get a few dudes aggressive but I say that only from my point of view...at the end of the day someone has to pay for these things and if they just continue to be bogged down in BS then it bleeds the taxpayers. Just my two cents and from my POV.
Just out of interest (with no offence intended!) but it sounds like you have butted up against that sort of thing a bit...does the freedom of the outdoors and the open Aussie desert hold some appeal now...?

We should have more off topic threads. Ironing boards and pet cats maybe 馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ
DEFINITELY should sticky an Ironing Board callout page...personally I love Hyundai's with Boeing wings...LMAO
