So, as I had said, I'm thinking about building a nice little budget system for my little car now. I had been considering the Excelon 692, because I'm loving my 792 so much, and the 692 is damn near the same, except $40 cheaper.

But then an interesting thought popped into my head.....
How cool would it be to have two of the same deck (in two different vehicles) so that if one of the face plates failed (or 'you failed' and dropped it on the concrete or something stupid) you could grab the face plate out of your other vehicle, then just swap it back and forth until you could get the jacked up one repaired, or replaced !

But will this work ? I'd be totally surprised if the 692 and 792 faceplates were interchangeable.... but shouldn't two identicle model HU's be able to swap faceplates ???

Anybody ?

I definately will, but I was just curious if anybody here has two or more of the same HU's, and if they could / have switched face plates back and forth, for whatever reason ???

Peace,
Fish

PS, Just called Kenwood, and the face plates of two 792's would be interchangeable..... But (as expected) not between the 692 and 792, even though they are darn near the same exact deck, just with a different color display.....
