Well the story begins with me blowing my sub and not wanting to spend $100 or so on a recone... I tore into the sub and tried to rebuild it so here goes.

Basket needs cleaning...

Former is in good shape

Had to patch some burn holes and cut marks then extended the spiders

Surround is still useable

The wire... 18 awg high temp copper

Shiny basket!

Everything drying up

I should have taken more pics to show the voice coil... But everything is hooked up right now and it functions! The dmm shows my resistance at .9-1 ohm which is what I was aiming for, a single 1 ohm coil. The new coil is heavier than the old one and now when the bass hits there isnt a tight beat but a smoother thud, still really loud and the lows seem a bit more accentuated. The sub is really stiff so Im going to let it break in more to truly compare to its former self.

Just thought I would share my fun project.

I wonder exactly how much the T/S's changed with the new coil? More mass will have at least lowered the Fs.
