Hello! I am new to the forum but do occasionally browse. I have put stereos in all of my cars for the past 12 years. However my experience is not vast. I have had midline boston components years ago, ADS 2 and 3 series and most recently Focal P165v's... On to my new build:

I purchased a '14 Jetta Sportwagen. I have a JL 300\4 and 500\1 that will be carried over. Planning on building a ~.8 sealed box to house a Dayton 10" HO 4ohm. I am unsure what to do for the front soundstage. I enjoyed my focals and ADS quite a bit and recently heard good sounding Memphis components in a friends car (they were lower than the M series but still sounded good to me). My preference would be to have a tweeter a bit smoother than the Focal's but the most detail possible and a midbass comparable to the ADS. I am looking to spend under $300 if possible. I've read decent things about the ID ctx65cs but have not heard any of their speakers. At this point I open to bridging my 300\4 as it seems a lot of people on here put enormous amounts of power to their fronts. I know that would depend on the speakers I get though.

Any and all suggestions are welcome from $100+ but again would like to stay under $300. I've read people saying the JBL P series are good and those are up for ~$90. Could those possibly compare to the ID's or Focals??? Please help and thanks in advance! :)

The 300/4 will allow you to go active on your front comps, if you can just put a bass blocker of some sort on the lowend of the woofer.

I would strongly consider doing this. You could do a scan discovery mid and a seas or LG tweeter and be right around 300. You could also do a Hat clarus mid and tweet...but but not sure how much that would run.

Lots of active options out there.

I did consider going active. The thing that scares me the most is getting 2 pairs of 16g into the doors. I'm not amazing at this stuff and being busy most of the time can be a bit lazy  I'm not a fan of the stock midbass location on my car but partly due to time/laziness I am not moving it.

I'm not familiar with scan discovery and googling that and the lg tweeter didnt get me much. Could you be more specific? I am interested in HAT but dont think you can buy the drivers separately?

Nice amps BTW ;)

Any experience with this tweeter? https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.c...b-acoustics-sb29rdc-c000-4-ring-dome-tweeter/

Think it would almost be a drop in fit for where the stock 4" mid is in my doors and its 4 ohms.
