Any word on the new Reference line? If they sound anything like the oldies, that would be brilliant!!
Why don't amp manufacturers bring back the oldies but with slight improvements based on modern tech?
BTW, Linear Power fans. If anyone knows where to get detailed schematics on those amps, I have a buddy that builds custom guitar amps for a living. He gets the boards cut to his specs, then builds them up using the best attributes of various long time Brand name companies.. Simple tube amps that are killer in sound and built like tanks.
His amps are supposedly on the verge of getting scooped up by a major company for production, has offers on the table.
Anyway, he basically indicated to me that he used to work on OS US made amps when they were simpler in design and much higher in quality. I showed him the DPS 350 that I had and he remembered from that the other LP amps with the T-03s, supposedly fixed quite a few of them back in the day. He indicated to me that it would be easy for him to replicate those amps if he had detailed schematics. This could be monumental.
If we had schematics and all got together and pooled in cash for a preorder, we could have some perfect LP replicas.. BTW, he also has a connect with machine shops for the heatsinks.
I mention LP because they are the simplest in design and sound amazing, they are also the easiest most cost effective to duplicate. Once the initial boards and heatsinks are tooled, it will be cheap to knock them out, it is the intitial tooling that will cost money, but I think it would be worth doing. If we could get enough people interested, all the preorders could pay for the tooling. After that, it gets much cheaper.
I've also got metal polishers and powder coaters as well as vinyl graphics folks lined up, all right here in South Florida....
What do you guys say? (Ray probably wouldn't go for it..) I am not looking to take food off any ones table, just think it would be awesome if we could bring back to life the production of awesome amplifiers such as the LPs..
