2004 Ford Expedition 4.6

head unit: android 9.1 double din 10” screen hong Kong manufactured brand joying

amps: hifonics bxx3000.1 and hifonics bxx1200.4

audiocontrol lc2i

doors: cerwin vega 6.5” components in each door

subs: four Alpine type R 10’s wired down to 1ohm.

alternator: 250 amp

batteries: 3 alphacell 220gx gel batteries

I’ve been like a dog chasing its tail on this project just to get it to sound decent or functional that the neighbors are looking at me funny, and to date, it still sounded better when it was the two 10’s on standard generic. Got good wiring. Good rca’s (i think). Redoing my baterries wiring now.But havent been able to get my components working right, get a buz out of one, cant ever hear the rear doors, but sounded better with plane 6x8’s. My head unit is my baby but it has a flaw: only one rca sub out. The rest are divided and made FOR specific inputs (rear video with right left audio; front video with right left audio; back up cam, front cam, etc) but no summing or real preouts like normal. Using the sub out and splitters only produced bass. Was able to restore proper signals with the lc2i but still haven’t tuned it. And i DO have the highs amp run to the highs rca on the lc2i and sub amp ran to sub out on lc2i. When i got to the input on 4 channel amp i had to use a splitter to achieve 4 channels out of 2. For some reason the female to 2 male splitters aren’t so common on your local shelf. Also neither amp has been tuned. Both are currently at half accross the board. I also noticed today on a obd2 read that my battery under hood is showing 11.? Something volts, and i currently have neither amp online while i upgrade wiring of rear batteries. It IS an old battery though but new HO alternator. Hoping i dont have to sacrifice all the features of my head unit to swap back to a plane radio. How bout it old timers put me up on a lill know how.

I find it a little strange that the Android radio doesn't have any stereo line level outputs. Link to the exact model?
Buzzing/ground noise is usually the result of poor grounding and may even be introduced by the loc.
Yeah I don't understand why your using the lc2i. It's basically a fancy line output convertor but you have rca outputs? Those Chineseium HU's have audio outs with the video usually. The sub output is usually mono so having only one is ok.

I was confused on the lc2i as well.

Thnx for taking time to take a gander everybody. Above i added the exact unit i purchased. Got everything back online today. Sounds ok for zero tune on amps or anything but cerwin vega components poppin at higher volume. Dont know how to deal with the included passive crossovers/ amp settings/ lc2i settings... seems like overkill of the same settings by three diff devices. For some reason rear door speakers always been undecernable unless you put you ear to the door. Starting to think i skimped on quality with the doors (cerwin vega hed650c) may change it up and simplify it at same time. Subs are hitting good at high volume have that bottoming out sound like starving for power or voltage. Gonna take a closer look at my charging system and test for some parasitic loss
  1. I was confused on the lc2i as well.
i used the lc2i to seperate or provide a full range signal for rca’s. Y splitters off sub out only produced bass. Cant say for 100% cause I didn’t verify mysuspicion of the other rca’s but way they were labled led me to believe if i used a set of audio outs from one of the othe sources id only benifit while using that source but would lbe back to factory after changing sources
Also id like to add: i enjoy the hell out of this head unit. Maybe not best choice in terms of audiophile capabilities and signal reproduction/ summing, but definitely kicks ass in features and mobile entertainment. Im always on the road
I used a similar head unit in my bmw (eonon, but joying makes one almost identical, probably a lot of shared parts)...

The interface and functionality was awesome, no denying that.

But ultimately I sold it and went back to my 10 YEAR OLD Pioneer because of lack of audio controls (before I had my DSP), but also a lack of audio quality and very low rca voltage.

I think you ultimately need to decide if audio quality of HU functionality is more important, but the joying may not be able to do both.

For me, after investing time/effort/cost on my audio setup, audio was the priority.

Good luck.

Try your phone via a 3.5mm jack plug to rca into the amps to test each speaker set individually

the lc2i is odd, why would you need to make a full range signal when the headunit has preouts? Bin that off and go from outputs to amps, KISS, seems a very complicated way to do something simple
The connectivity diagram shows front and rear stereo preouts as well as the subwoofer preout on the A socket plug. Is the plug short of the required rca plugs?

Noisy unit.

You wouldn't use all three crossovers norm you usr just ur head unit if its a decent one if not then use what came with the components and turn the amp to full dont use one on amp in high plus the components plus the head unit
Noisy unit.
You know what you may be right on that one i thought it was just me cause i slapped **** together real quick in a car im driving while i get my other one fixed up. And in doing a new set up and pretty much starting from scratch but i wanted to what that i have still worked and how well etc and if i would use any of it in the new system. So like i when i say slapped it in i mean it like rcas aren't ran under the carpet etc. I wasn't bothering in something that im gonna have pull it all back out. I did run 4 gauge from bat to trunk under carpet back seat etc cause im leaving it but i do have alot of low volume noise that i didn't remember noticing when i had my pioneer eq but it was 30 plus years old and took a crap so i grabbed this one and i just figured it was my set up not the unit. Thx for the info i will not be using it in my new set up now for sure.

I’m removing the audiocontrol lc2i completely. Gonna try the audio pe-outs but if they do in fact belong to video source only I’ll just come off harness direct with rca to wire adapters. The noise im hearing is from a crossed speaker wire or wires in door (also causing the wierd volume deal in rear doors). Think i got a bad ground somewhere i have chase down. My power/hot runs from front battery and underneath body along the frame untill it comes up through floor in second row seats where i added console from navigator. Im not using isolators or anything. I have my 3 alphacell 220’s +/+ -/- with alt feeding front battery, then positive to rear batery. Neg from front battery to chasis/frame, neg from rear battery to chasis/frame. Both amps feed directly from rear bateries. Fuses and breakers between all. My 250 amp alt. Should have NO prob with this settup. Had the voltage checked and its good. Gonna check all my grounds today.

Check what pins the rcas are connected to on the plug. The plug pinout lists what each position is for
