I have $300 for speakers for my front stage (2 6.5's and 2 tweets). I just dont know much at all when it comes to buying these seperate (not component sets) for an active setup. So if someone could link me to some good 6.5's and tweets id really appreciate it! Also, I could get the hertz hsk xl comp set at a good price and rune it active.

Or maybe not in the same league as the HSK xL, but a a fraction of the cost,
JBL p660C, or MS-62.

Also maybe HAT imagine, or image dynamics XS-65 if you can get them cheaper.

Another option, stereo integrity TM65 ($100 each) and the tweeters listed by Kriszilla, or the KAXBLTWT, I but t will be $350

The hertz HSK xL for $300, I would be very careful, make sure you buy from an authorized dealer, or you may be getting some fake ones.

HAT CLARUS is in the same league as the HSK xL

Silver Flute 4 Ohm 6.5"

LPG 26NA Aluminum Dome Car Tweeter

Then do a search for LPG Mount on Madisound and they carry the flush, wedge, and surface mounts for them.

This is a solid setup that will treat you really well for 1/2 your budget price and sound better then the aforementioned Hertz set you were looking at.
Hmm. will this setup get loud? im more concerned with SPL than SQ and these have a lower sensitivity rating

I used to have the xs 65's i was never Too impressed with them. They sounded great at lower levels but never got as loud as i wanted or sounded that good doing it. Kind of why im trying to run something different than the normal passive xover sets iv'e run in the past. Iv'e just never quiet been sastified with them.

SPL? For any of the expensive speakers, if you don't give them at least clean 125W each you will not benefit from loud SQ, 150- 200W is ideal.

Even when the hertz have high sensitivity, they need good high power.

If SPL is your thing, the JBL p 660C with 94 db may be the answer and with only 100watts

There are other great sets, the ground zero's from Germany and PHD Italian ones

What HU amps and sub will you use?

Those JBL's retail for $275! right on your price range, and you can get them for 1/3 of the price on sale :D

When you bi amp them, either set, even the ID's, not sure if you tried them active or not, you have more power and more dynamic sound and getting loud is not necessary unless you want to hear your car from a block way with the windows open.

I don't know how much is the real power of the PPI amp, the 150x4 is usually at 14.4v, not realistic to me. The real power is at 12.6Volts.

With either set, you can bridge the PPI channels to give the mids at least close to 200W, and the tweeters driven with the HU or a small amp.

If that does not solve your issue of loud SQ, then you may want to seek a 3 way front and sub and that will ask for a DSP. :)

Those silver flutes and those tweeters are a good 2 way system for a 2 way active. I have set of Hertz HSK tweeters I may be interested in selling, the HT25's the newer ones with the black and silver lines grills. And those get as loud as you can stand them.
