helped a friend install an alpine cda-117 in his car
ran a 10ga power wire from his batt. to the h/u

turned vol. knob to -0/35-, powered up fine no sound
turned vol. knob to -1/35-, h/u ran at full tilt,
turned vol. knob to -0/35-, powered up fine no sound
turned vol. knob to -1,2,3,etc.-35-, h/u ran at full tilt :confused:

why is this doing this and what am i doing wrong

So your saying that your using the hu to power your speakers and as soon as you turn the dial it wide open loud as hell?
If that truly is the case then theres something wrong with the unit and you need to get intouch with alpine.
You may have a short in one of your wire runs that go to the drivers but that would be a wierd way showing it though.

h/u ---> amp ---> speakers

couldn't figure it out so i tried stock wiring & it worked perfect no issues

any reason for this?

How did you use the stock wires and get them to amp?

sorry i meant stock power wire

vehicles stock power wire
h/u
rca's
replaced all speaker wire
amp

and everything works perfect, switched power wire to H/U and it acts weird
