I think there is like only one pioneer double din that has a 3 way crossover network for full active, I can't seem to find that model number again, i just read it the other day. all i remembered was it wasnt that fancy of a double din and super basic with 2 way active + sub capabilities. I know that there are barely any double dins that can do 3-way active so if you wanted to go that route then you should get a DSP, or if you want to go with a single din then the pioneer 80prs can be had for pretty cheap nowadays and has a decent amount of tuning capabilities including running active.

AVH-X1700S is the entry level with active capabilities. Most people here will tell you to go active. But try passive first, you might love em.

My question for the OP is how are you going to be running the imagine's? Are you going to run them as components or coaxial's? If you run them as coaxial's in the doors then passive should be fine for you, if you run them as components and have the tweeters on axis or close to you may want to go active to tone down the tweeter because the tweeters play a little louder than the mid's since it was originally designed to be a coaxial set for the doors. The answer may vary depending on how your system is set up, I see that you have a type r sub and if your system is bass heavy having that little bit of extra kick from the imagine tweeters may not be a bad idea to cut through the lower frequencies from the sub.

I'd be putting them in the door (stock location g35 coupe) and there's 2 tweeter locations I think, one in the bottom corner of the window where the mirror is and one where the air vents are at the front windshield, I have no idea where I should put them, my sub is a single 8" in a ported box so the bass isn't going to be too crazy

It's been my experience that "the best system you've ever heard" is just that . I'm sure there's a better way to explain it. But I would just do the best you can even if that means running them passive. Because unless you have run then active in the past, you probably wwon't notice what if anything your missin out on.

You could always add a 6ch external crossover later.

Ignorance is bliss, especially when we are taking about sound.
