How do I set crossover pots accurately?

Ive got this dillemma on setting the crossver potentiometer on my PDX-5s mono channel. Im using an Alpine 9887 deck and it used to be the crossovers on the HU thats doing all the work. But since I cannot turn off the xover on the PDX for the sub, im stuck using the analog. Ive already set the low xover on the Alpine HU to flat, so that all the processing for the sub is being done by the xover on the amp. Now my question is, how do i set this accurately? The numbers around the pot just dont cut it for me. How can set this thing accurately? I was thinking of using TrueRTA as a tool but other more convenient ways might be out there. Hope somebody can help!

What do you mean by accurately? Why cant you just use your ears to listen to what sounds best?
When someone does not have either a good set of headphones or a home audio setup, it is hard to know what to listen to...

Its a subwoofer man, really how hard is it to see what frequency cut off sounds best? Just turn the dial, listen, turn dial again, and repeat until you like the sound. Tune it for what YOU like, unless you are competing then thats a different story

OT If he can source a TrueRTA im sure he can go to HT audio shop and listen to some systems ;) You dont have to own, only need to demo...
Accurately meaning i can see the slopes and the frequency of the the crossover point thru the TrueRTA interface or with an oscilloscope (if possible). Right now I tried playing it by ear and so far im happy with the results. I just set the xover on the amp at 50hz then on the 9887, i set the mid highpass to 50hz at 24db/octave. So far the bass upfront. Still want to try out other things just for the heck of it.

Oh im going to compete in EMMA by the way thats why.
Your post is kind of confusing.

But if you're using the crossover on the Alpine HU, then just set the low pass on the amp to the max setting. Then the HU will be controlling it
@xander
Im sorry man. Edited my first post. Sorry for that. Hope that clears up my question. Must be the hangover from last night.
