Hey All,

I have a box being sent for two dual 4ohm subs. Looking for a general idea how much speaker wire I should get to wire them up in parallel? think 15 feet should be enough? the box is 36 inches wide terminals on side.

That sounds like it should be long enough if the amp isn't too far away. I usually order a good amount more than I need to be safe & to have extra for later projects.

Would be nice if more than 1 person can verify that 15 feet would be enough to wire the inside of a box. Hey though don't go out of your way to provide useful information just keep posting non helpful garbage posts.

I concur, 15' should be plenty.

To wire up each sub within the enclosure, shouldn't take but 2', then you need just over 3' to get from on terminal cup on the enclosure to the other, which leaves you roughly 8' to get to your amplifier. However, if you are planning to do two runs of wire (one to each sub, then you'll need to double the length of the run from the amp to the first terminal cup added to the total of needed wire.

Nevertheless, unless you have the amp located 4' or more from the enclosure, then the 15' should be enough. "IF" you have any doubts that it won't be, order more from the start. I'm sure you'll find a use for any extra wire over time.

Also, while you never mentioned, nor was it ever asked, are you planning to wire the subs for a 1 ohm final load and do one run of wire? How much power you running? Will the wiring be ran concealed?

Well, guess it depends on the subs, if they have the voice coils on opposite sides, then more wire would be needed than I initially put, but if they are something like an Alpine Type-R which come with jumpers or if they have a selector switch for impedance like new Kickers, Infinity, Audio Frog etc etc..

Kinda hard to say ? i dont know how far your amp is from the sup but if its not more than 5 ft I would say you will have enough. Why not just measure it out ? inside the box your not going to use more than 5 ft I wouldnt think. Like the others posted just buy extra cuz you will use it.
