Other than tweaking to sound good to one's ears is there any other acoustical corrective purposes to a HU's non-parametric EQ?

Yes, of course, look up target curve.
But the real benefit is with separate L/R EQ - this is good path toward a proper sound stage.
When the left side’s response matches the right- your phantom images occur. Like magic

@e39 touring - I have a Helix Mini awaiting install - so, I know 
I just don't know when I'll get to it and want to try to make best use of what the Kenwood has inside.
