I have a truck that I bought with a Kenwood KDC-MP142. It was working fine until I pulled the negative battery cable to do some work. When I hooked it back up the unit just flashes red and I can hear a pulsating "buzz" noise as well. I have watched 1000 you tube videos and tried all the resetting, pushing button tricks and nothing changes. The unit just flashes red, it doesn't have any text saying protect or anything else. Any ideas out there? I'm going to replace it and the speakers eventually, I just don't have the money at present and would like to stop singing the same three songs to myself all the time...

Thanks in advance

You could try pulling it from the car and powering it with just the +12, switched power, and ground (off the car battery or a power supply) Maybe you have a bad connection (speaker wire short, for example).
