Built a false floor to put my amps in the hatch and that came out great. Something that never dawned on me until my nephew pointed it out " your box isn't going to fit under the cargo hood. I had the hood out the whole time
I was doing the floor so never occurred to me.

Can't believe I missed that. Now here is where I'm asking for help. I"m going to build the box but have no idea what dimensions to build it to account for my mistake.

Is it possible to build the box with a angled front so I can keep the height down to avoid the hood ?

The height I have to deal with is 12". Length and depth don't matter. This will be sealed box with one 12" Type R. I may go with two subs in the future, but right now one is the plan.

Per Alpine Specs for a sealed box

Net internal volume - 0.55 -1.0 ft
External box dimensions - 14" x 14' x 11'
Gross internal volume - 0.85 ft
Net Internal volume - 0.75 ft
F3, QTC - 45 Hz, 0.81

I like a tight punchy bass if this makes any difference, definitely not into overpowering bass.

I'd really appreciated at some measurements and design ideas.

well I would argue with you that length and depth DO matter because you need to fit the sub into the box:D

are you saying you want to build it so the sub fires up but at an angle so it all fits under the cargo hatch?

there are online calculators to determine box size using angled sides. Just figure out how deep the magnet is to determine the angle and the minimum height of the back wall and front wall so you don't build it too shallow to let the sub fit inside. Just a bunch of trial and error and you should find it pretty easy

Thanks Mini, and yes i want it to fire up at a angle. After a little research, since I'm sealed shape doesn't matter much so that makes things easier. I believe mounting depth is 6". I'll play around tomorrow.

Thanks

To get the volume of a wedge style box just add the top and bottom of the slant and divide by 2. For example...
Top-9"
Bottom-13"
Height-15"
Length-20"

9+13/2=11

11*15*20=3300

3300/1728=1.9 cubic feet. Make sure you use INTERNAL measurements. It won't matter that much in a sealed box if you mess up and use external measurements to get your volume but it's just the thought of it that's really bad.
