OK First off... I'm sick for even thinking about this...

Now that is out of the way here is my idea / question...

Has anyone attempted to install a horn type lens on a ribbon tweeter ? The LCY Ribbons have a large front plate and the dispersion pattern is said to be better than other ribbons.

Just thought I would pose this question...

not really.

they make different face plates and that affects the top end freq. response.

the reason they have such good vertical dispersion is because they use dual ribbon technology.

These cats do it,

http://www.slsloudspeakers.com/

I have used their live stuff and it sounds Uber Sexaaayyy! Very non fatiguing, no FFT problems like with compression drivers, I had to be careful because they will BE loud before they SOUND loud!

I'd call these waveguides instead.
if you have the space, just go for a larger ribbons, they can sure extend down to where you need it to be,
the lcy + faceplate (waveguide) probably takes up as much space as a 5" ribbon.

I have a pair of Gamma VLD 13`s lying around. Horn loaded, sensitivity: 94db. Their`e are said to be a fairly exact copy of the old Decca/Kelly ribbons. Price new from Hifikit.se are about 250$/piece, I will concider selling mine for 100$/pair.. Both working and sounding just fine ;)
