I need help on whether or not to pull the trigger and buy four ID8's. I currently have a Rockford Fosgate P3d4-15 (2011) in a 1.58 cuft sealed box in my trailblazer. The sub is getting 600w @ 2ohms from a JL Audio XD1000/5. I previously had the sub in a ported box but I changed to sealed and couldn't be happier. As I get older my preference towards SQ is increasing. I really like the idea of four 8inch subs and with only 600w, the ID8's seem to fit the bill (4 x 150w rms...) I have compared the T/S parameters that I can find from both manufacturers and they appear somewhat comparable. My goal is to dig real deep but also sound great. I don't want to sacrifice cone area if possible hence the move from 1 15 to 4 8's.

P3d4-15
Fs: 22Hz
Sd: 894 cm2
Xmax: 15.9 mm
F3: 36.2 Hz (1.58 ft3 sealed)
SPL: 86 dB
Qts: .57
Vd: 1421.46 cm3

ID8d4 v.4
Fs: 24.7 Hz
Sd: 231 cm2
Xmax: 15 mm
F3: 20Hz in car/ 38Hz free space (.45 ft3 sealed)
SPL: 85.6 dB
Qts: .332
Vd: 1,386 cm3 (346.5 x 4)

Any kind of help that I can have would be greatly appreciated. The only information that I lack is real world input. No one in my area has ID so I can't test them out. In the end I don't want to waste the money on the ID8's if they are not going to be better than my current set up.

I have 1 IDMax10 v4 d2 running at 1ohm on a Arc Audi xdi 650.1 amp, in a prefab .85cft box (this is just till spring when I can work outside and not freeze LOL). I have the gain turned down between 1/2 and 1/3rd so really the speaker should be seeing 350 to 400 rms max and it really digs deep and sounds GREAT very musical, and I haven't done anything expect put in speakers on passive crossovers (older model Infinities getting around 100 RMS to all 4 channels, amp is rated at 120rms x 4 but I ave the gains turned down around a 1/3rd there too) and drop in the sub, nothing has been tuned and my DSP isn't hooked up yet.

I would think 4 8's would be good on around 150 rms each, I'm not sure if they will dig quiet as deep as the 10" but if the 8" sounds as good as the 10" you should be GREAT, i'm thinking you will cut the gain down unless you like your bass VERY loud. with 1 10" my daughter said her hair was moving LOL

I have two id8d2v3 that I love.:) They are an awesome small sub. The v3 are rated @150 rms the v4 are rated 350 rms. I know that they will handle power well, I was running them off the sub channel of my crossfire vr705d which put out over 400 watts rms @ 2ohms.

For the money I could always go with an IDMax12. Any thoughts? Would it be worth it even if it only gets 600w?

If you can fit an IDMAX 12 I say get one. Much better quality subwoofer. Not to say the ID8 is junk, its not. I love my ID8's :)
