While I was at the local Arc thrift store, I came across this jl sub in a ported box. I figured why not sense It was $ 14.99 + tax . When I got home I took the sub out of the box to find out what model it was. It is a 10w3v3-4. Are these a decent sub? Never ran jl sub’s before just Mtx 12’s back in the 90’s and some Velodyne 12’s around 2010. I might use it for my audio build in a 68 cougar.

The grill alone costs twice what you paid for the entire item. To say you got a tremendous deal here is an understatement even if the sub isn't working.

I check the voice coil it reads 4.2 ohm’s and dos not sound scratchy when you move the speaker by hand.
That is really a steal, even if it´s not working like people say here
Go get you a lotto ticket man.. :)

JL Subs are "decent" but only the W6 & W7 are considered SQ Subs and you can get the same performance for much less outlay.

The W3 is very ho-hum for the MSRP but for $15... that's the deal of the century.
the w3 is a good sub, I run mostly JL Audio subs. started with the 8.2 microsub (2 8w1-8), then moved to the 212w3v2ho setup (2 12w3v2d4), now in my ride is 2 12w6v3d4, the other car is 2 10w3v3-4 and another truck is a single 10w3v3-4. I say you got a hell of a deal if it works. the best thing is when I bought my subs, I didn't pay too much, it was mostly on sale and under the MAP.
Goodwill is the pinnacle of business models. Take free stuff from people and sell it to other people.
