L18 slightly better clarity through the midrange, upper limit limited to 1.5-2khz. CA18 paper cone, a bit warmer sound, and usuable to 3-4khz. No breakup on the upper end either.

The L18 is more detailed due to the stiffer cone, but it has a lot of breakup in very sensitive areas that MUST be dealt with. For a 3-way as dedicated midbass I love it, but in a 2-way it is a lot harder to get sounding right. If you wanna do a 2-way with it, i would recomend using a tweet that can get pretty low, like the dayton reference tweet, or a ribbon.

Typically I find that true. But in a car door, breakup may simply not be an issue (at least it wasn't in my car).
