I push the mdt-23's that hard on paper but I'm sure they never actually see that power...much like OP's probably.

The Morel's get close, but that's kind of pushing them.

I agree with the full range idea. However, if 3" is too big, which it probably is if he's looking for a compact tweeter, then this driver would do very well for him.

Peerless 830983, 2" Full Range, 4 ohm from Madisound

This is also an option.

I've seen at least a couple of designs that use the MDT-39 around 2k acoustic.

Here's one

The OP wants a tweeter that can take abuse that low. I don't know what "abuse" is defined as in his eyes, but it's probably pretty tough.

The MDT-39 is a modified version of the MDT-38 top mount tweeter that I had a lot of success with. 2k at 12 db was pushing that tweeter. I had it no lower than 2.5k.

The loudspeaker project that you linked is a L/R type crossover. That means that the tweeter is crossed over higher than the actual system crossover point. It's significantly higher due to the dip in frequency response in that range. I'd be willing to bet that electrically that crossover is no lower than 2.5 khz, but probably reaching upwards of 3khz.

The seas neo tweets both sound like a cheap tweeter to me. I like a tweeter that has a nice full sound so take this for what it's worth.

I ran my morel mdt29's at 2khz 24db for a while with no issues. Pushed them pretty hard too. Any one of the dfw boys will tell you how I used to be when it comes to tweeter level;)Dollar for dollar morel tweeters are just plain unbeatable if you like that type of sound.
