You're a very lucky guy and your dad was correct you should cherish it.
McIntosh makes Amazing SQ geared amplifiers... personally if i were you i'd look into to some High Quality speakers to match with this amp and do a detailed build to display them.

Given the install is done properly and the right equipment is chosen you won't be disappointed
