As i'm looking for midrange speaker for a possible 3-way front (in addition to my current Polk SR6500) i keep on running into midrange speakers that are 8 ohms a lot more often then car audio standard 4 ohms.
A lot of them have great reviews, good prices (comparing to 4Ohm ones) but this 8 Ohms thing keeps me away... mainly because i'm not exactly sure how it'll work with my amps.

Do all amps work just fine under 8 omhs load even thou they are only rated for 4 and 2ohms?
Assuming they work fine - then wattage they will produce is roughly half of 4Ohm rated wattage?

any amplifier that is rated to operate at 4ohms will handle 8ohms just fine. and yes, it will be half the power of the 4 ohm rating.

Yes it will work and most likely the power will be halved, but not necessarily. Amps have power limits, voltage limits and current limits which are quasi-independent.
