I was just wondering which one is better? The Morel Elate or the Seas Reference? What's your expierence with each one? How many watts would you throw to each one continuously to make them sound good?

they sound like ass. plasticy, tacky midbass but some pretty smooth midrange.

if youve ever heard that the Seas Lotus Reference "lacked" midbass, in the right install (ie same install), theyre about the same (Morel/Lotus) with the Lotus being more composed throughout its operating range.

i concurr, the bass is decent though...not fabolous or crap, just decent.

In all my experiences with Morel drivers they do seem to lack the authority other drivers naturally deliver. I found their off axis response to be better than on axis, has anyone found this to be true as well? The Integra's are pretty impressive tho.

Off axis response is nice, i wouldn't go as far as saying its better than on axis...having used plenty of Rainbow mids (seas based drivers) and payed with/heard my share of Seas mids...I have to disagree with what has been said above. I get nothing but praise about the sound texture of my midbass, nevermind impact from people who's opinion counts. I guess it depends on on application- as I've heard Seas Lotus midbass to be rather anemic in a more than properly dampened door-it varies from car to car to make general statements...

I noticed that you are running the peerless 2" domes. How do you like them? Do you know the dimensions such as mounting depth and such. I couldn't get them from madisound. Thanks

obviously, 8 inchers are going have better bass response then 6.5 inchers..

Morel 6.5" to Lotus 6.5" the Lotus perform better. From My Experiences, of course.

Not comparing my 8's either against a 6.5 " driver, i base my statement on Iridium 6's, PG Elite mids, and the cast basket Elate 6" mids(>the speakers being inquired on). All very nice sounding mids. But like anything else in the car performance is application dependent- even the lotuses dont work great in every door.

I'm not even going to make a claim which is the better driver. I'm not here to sell anything or , nor make general blanket statements based on current personal preference-I'll leave that to you...

They are NOT the horn'midranges on Madisound. They are 4 ohm 2" textile soft domes that were on clearance on partexpress a month back.
Dimmensions off PE for it...
A: 5-1/4", B: 4-1/4", C: 1-5/8"
Not bad at all...actually sound very nice and compliment the other drivers well....just dont have a reference point for a dome in my car as of yet to say how good it really is...
One things for sure, based on cost its up there as far as worthy investment i've ever made. I will be trying some Morel MR-56 domes and the Ushers when the pockets allow it. For now I'm concentrating on tuning.

Some doors "lack" midbass. while this may be true, the Morels didnt "lack" any midbass - not in this application. Some speakers just sound bad while trying to reproduce music - wouldnt you agree? IME, there was plenty of midbass and not very much door resonance or rattles. They just sounded 'not as good' TO ME, in my experience.

BTW, APPLES taste better.

Anyone want some SEAS L18's or some Lotus RM110's??? I didnt know i had them for sell but I guess according to 3.5max6spd, theyre for sell - because im trying to sell something and the only things on topic right now are Morel or Seas......

I didn't have a positive experience with the Elates either. You can buy equivalent performance for less money in one of the Hi-Vi clones Imho.

Thanks for the info on the Elates. I really can't find any info on them from the internet. I think I have finally decided what I want to do with my system. I'm dropping my fiberglass tub back into my car after a serious tail light issue. In the process I added nearly 37sq ft of Bquiet extreme and another 40 sq ft of Bquiet ultimate. For the time being I'm keeping my rear fill (MB Quarts), and also my Atomic 6.5c2's in my front doors. Eventually I'll switch them out to the Lotus 6.5inch speakers but leave the Atomic tweeters because of their mounting style. Now for the changes, I'm replacing my MB Quart 4inch with Morel Ovation 4inch. And instead of running my front at 2ohms. I'm adding an extra Eclipse 3620 amp and pushing 40 watts x2 @ 4ohms stereo @.004%thd to the kicks. I'm also pushing this to my doors. Should sound clean.
