For some reason this sub has never hit as well as I thought it should. I have to turn the bass boost on the deck all the way up to even really hear the sub. I have put sound deadener on the entire floor of the car and the rear deck. Haven’t gotten to the doors yet. The car is a 2000 Acura TL. I really don’t know what I am doing wrong.
Here are the specs:
Alpine CDA-9887
Elemental Designs NINe.1
Arc Audio Black 12v2 Dual 4 ohm wired to 2 ohm load. It is in a 1.276 cubic foot sealed enclosure made with Baltic birch plywood. The face is double walled and plenty of internal bracing. I also lined the inside of the box with ensolite (Closed cell foam from raamaudio.com).
I set the amplifier gains and the head unit with a Steve Mead Designs Distortion Detector so there should be no distortion from my deck or amp. The crossover is set with a Steve Mead Designs Crossover Calibrator and should be set at 80Hz. All settings were made with the deck set flat and zero. The amp is rated at 900 watts x 1 at 2 ohm load. Should be plenty of power.
Should I switch to a ported box? I’m at a loss as to why I’m not getting the bass out of this I was hoping for.

I checked the wiring and it is wired in 2 ohm. Can someone explain what an RTA is? Hopefully I can figure this out. It's really discouraging to spend so much time and money on a project and be disappointed with the results. :(
