I am trying to measure the voltage level of my OEM amplifier. The reason I am testing is to figure out what my hi level input voltage is into a processor that has a high level input of 15V max.

I am unable to tap a signal before the OEM amplifier because of the CANBUS system the factory uses to communicate a digital signal from the HU to the amp, and there are no adapters available from PAC or other manufacturers.

I have a DMM with good resolution, but can not get it to read more then 2V when playing test tones. I've heard conflicting stories, that I need a resistor and that I dont. I have not been using a resistor as I dont know what type I need or where to buy them. I assume Radio Shack.

does it really matter you goin to use a LOC anyways its goin to boost it anyways
I am using high level inputs into the processor, meaning, no LOC. I want to test the voltage to make sure it is not too exceeding the spec for the processor because the levels come after an amplifier..
