I plan on building my own sub box and using a 10" driver. Can someone please explain what the Qtc of a driver in a given box means? I was told to design a sealed box to about .707 using the caraudio.com calculator. What do different qtc values do to the sound of the driver/box combo. If I use a higher or lower value. Also I'm looking for pure sq outcome.

Thanks

A Qtc of 0.4-0.5 will give you a "dry", detailed bass response. A Qtc of 0.707 is concidered to give the most neutral response, whereas higher Qtc`s will get more and more warm, boomy and "soft". A little bit hard to explain, but I hope you understand.

For pure SQ, I would aim for something between 0.7 and 0.5, all depending of personal taste. For sealed cabinets, changing the Qts is simply a matter of increasing/decreasing box volume (?).
