Starting an upgrade project for my 2012 CRV daily driver.
Going to throw in an 80PRS & some Polk DXi components in front and DXi coaxials for rear fill - I already have these laying around.
Factory tweeter locations in sail panels are good enough.
I will seal & deaden doors, but the factory location for the 6.5 midbass is BAD. They are low and forward, and actually angle into the foot wells. Stupidest placement ever...

I am looking for ideas on how to better place the 6.5's. Kicks are out of the question.

I am willing to do some serious fab. Will modify door panels if needed.

Ideas?

If there's enough room behind the door panel... (My 93 Prelude has a lot of room between the speaker and door panel) .. you could use some spacers to angle the speaker so it fires more into the cab than into the foot wells. You could probably angle them up a little bit too.

There are many speakers out there that excel when off axis, though I don't know enough to suggest any.

Im not the kind of person to do many modifications to my vehicles... I like to keep them looking as stock as possible (help the resell value :D )
My cars are also kinda rare so that keeps me from hacking them up.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I'm just trying to get the creative juices flowing. It has been a while since I had the door cards off (need to get out there and do that again to assess the situation), but I do think there is a lot of room.

Unfortunately, most of that big square-ish grille is fake. I think a minimal mod would be to carefully cut out the entire fake grille and replace it with a nice transparent mesh. Then I can build a riser or box with slanted baffle to get the drivers tilting up and back a bit.

I am thinking of cutting the door skin hole a bit bigger and leaving the box/riser open into the door to keep it as close to an infinite baffle as possible. Would probably put a "hood" over the hole to keep water out and stuff the riser/box with poly fill to squash reflections.

Open to feedback on this ^^ plan and/or other ideas.

Thanks again.
