Whats the smallest decent amp available that'll give me around 250W at 8 ohms? Mono, bridged 2 channel, class A/B, D, G/H doesn't matter. Just has to be able to fit under a small sedan seat.

Well, my Massive Audio is about 7" x 5.5" x 2"... About the size of about 6 DVD cases stacked up. Spec'd @ 240 x 1 @ 4 ohm.

N3 is about 3 inches longer, same width and height. Spec'd @ 700 x 1 into 2 ohms.

Some people have had overheating issues, others have not. I cannot comment, as my stuff is still sitting on a shelf... Fairly impressed with the build quality though. I have guts shots of the NX2 and N4.

PM DAT for a good quote.

PDX2.150 is fairly small and would get u right at that amount of power. I have PDXs under each of my front seats.

I was originally set on the Massive NX2 after seeing 480 X 1 at 4 ohms. However, upon further research, I came to find that was a peak number, the the RMS value is only 240W bridged, which would get me only 125 or so at 8 ohms.

Looks like since the PDX does the same power at 4-2 ohms, it'd only get me around 150 at 8.

most amps are not rated at 8 ohms in car audio. what you want is a 500W amp at 4 ohms so you will have about 250w left at 8 ohms. not gonna be super small with that kinda wattage.

why running subs at 8 ohms? just curious.

I have a kicker IX1000.1 that does 1000x1 at 2ohms, 500x1 at 4ohms so my assumption would be 250x1 at 8ohms? ITS TINY! I have it under my front seat of my renegade! LOVE IT and dont really want/need to sell it but for the right price.......;) Realistically a 5 channel would suit me fine I dont need anywhere near the power I have on tap.

One of the main shallow subs that I'm looking at getting is SVC 8 ohm.

So yes, 500 at 4, 1000 at 2, 2000 at 1, whatever. Point is the amp needs to make 250W at 8 ohms, and be as small as possible.

Too bad there isn't a JL HD500

PPI Phantom P1000.1.. Class D, 580watt RMS power into 4ohm load. Size: 6.5x11.5x2
Boston Acoustics GTA-1000m.. (Class D?) 600watts RMS into 4ohm load. Size slightly larger than PPI.

Based on the opinions here, I would go with the Apline M6, JL HD750/1, or the Mosconi One 240.2. They all seem like great choices, although the only experience I have is with the JL.
