Good day
I am Micheal from holland(europe) and while google-ing in search for answers about my car audio setup, i came across this website! So far i've found alot of usefull info here! Thanx in advance.

Here is my queston/dilemma
I am busy setting up a sound quality setup/installation to compete here with soundquality competitions
since i am new to this i thought i might ask u guys some info
My system consists out of the following
1.HU(dont know yet what to buy, but i am leaning to the combo of alpine's iva d310 with the pxa-h701 processor)
2. Front speakers is a component from alpine....the spx-17pro(not bought yet)
3.The amps i'm planing on using are 2 zx500 and 1 zx450 from phoenix gold(already in )
4.the subs are from alpine...2 swr1222(dual voice coil)
5.Capacitor/distribution block is the phoenix gold 20farad power core
6. 2 batteries(on in front and one in the back) from a european brand used alot here
7. Wiring is kickers PKD1 (i have 2 of them available)
(the car is a toyota starlet...the square type one...been my favoritear from since i was a lill tike!)
Questions

1. Do i need 1 or 2 1/0guage wires from kicker to power all of this ?
2. What would be the ideal enclosure for the subwoofers and does it hurt soundquality wise if i would install the subs invertedly?
3. How do i wire all of this up correctly?....i have 2 batteries plus a 20farad capacitor (and where do i place the fuses/anl)......should i use an external fuse for the amps still (they dont have a internal fuse) ?
4.what is your opinion about the spx17pro component speakers from alpine, have u ever used it/tested it?

Any help will be grately appreciated...
thanx in advance.....

Answers:

1. 3 amps, tons of power...I'd say you should follow the recipe shown here... Basic Car Audio Electronicswire.htm

2. Boxes need to be built to suit the sub in question and the sound quality goal in mind. A sealed box is the easiest to build, a ported box also is relatively easy. Tuning and proper understanding of the relationship of box size vs. sub design is key. WinISD PRO (a free download) will help you model box alignments. Subs don't care if they are inverted or not.

3. I think I'll refer you back to Basic Car Audio Electronics for answers regarding wiring. Think of it as car audio bootcamp. A must for beginners!

4. I don't own the current Alpine X PROs, but I have the last version's X series in storage and I liked them. Most reviews of the current PRO's say they are mellow, with a truly excellent tweeter, but the mid is only average to good for the price. Still, with the right install procedures, I doubt you'd have a bad time with them.

Lastly, I noticed you mentioned nowhere in your post anything about deadening. You need to seriously consider your deadening plan and budget accordingly.

Oh and an off-the-cuff answer regarding the SWR1222 sub is this:

Sealed box - 24.54 Liters per sub
Ported box - 51.4 Liters per sub, tuned at 27Hz

good luck finding a d310 they are a bit hard to find and if u do they dont readily come cheap same for the 701 but there happens to be alot of 701 floating around now which wasnt in december damn it ..

i usually use 0guage to a distribution block into 4guage going into the amps..that way incase of any upgrade or adding additional amplifiers is easier on me because i already got the 0guage wire run

mounting the sub inverted doesnt affect sq and as for your enclosure you would find a big debate when it comes to sealed vs ported but generally most sq guys use sealed plus its easier

never heard the type x, i did manage to hear a type r setup a couple of times and i liked it for the price i can only expect a big improvement on alpine's flagship components (apart from the F1) but the speakers must be installed properly, door dampened, speaker decoupled and a very solid baffle to prevent leakage of sound

I've read the link that was adviced to me and i must say the information is utterly extended and well put together.
I know understand how to link my dual batteries but still dind find an answer about the capcitor.
As far as i know it is not good to put a fuse on the cables that go out of the capacitor(thats what i've been tought) because than te amplifiers dont get the right amount of juice and results in the capacitor being a sat back instead of an upgrade.
Also what i understand from the link is that a 0 guage wire is more than enough wich means i only need to install one of the kicker wiring kits.

As for the enclosure....indeed i am leaning towards the sealed version and thinking about making it 1cubiq feet per sub...

As for the iva d310 and pxa-h701....i see them constantly on ebay and at an affordable price(here in holland the 30 costs about €1500 and te h701 same price.....)

If you ground 100% correctly, it is unlikely you'll need the capacitor. You can pretty much bet on that.
