yesterday i picked up a 12" rockford fosgate RFP 2412 and a 15" series 1 S1-415 in boxes for 10$ off CL, im very new to audio and i was wondering what amps you guys would pair with each of these subs on the cheap. thanks

I believe that sub doesn't require gobs of power...I believe its rated at 200rms. Honestly, I would go with some sort of cheaper amp since it seems like you are looking for a budget oriented setup. Maybe something like...

thanks for the help man, i actually picked up a jensen 300w today. now all i need to do is wire it up, any simple guide on how to do this ? im a little confused about where im going to be getting power from.

hmm.. if you really dont know, maby you dont want to tackle this... I would head over to the12volt.com and check out their wiring diagrams.

Given that is a Jensen amp the 300w number is probably peak output which is meaningless for the most part. The rating your interested in is RMS power output. The Jensen probably puts out less than 150w RMS. Post the exact model if you can. Power should come directly from the battery. The +12v wire from the battery should be fused within 18" of the battery too. For the Jensen 10 gauge wire is probably adequate but you might want to consider a larger wire in case you install a more powerful amp in the future or install an additional amp.

RF has a wiring wizard here for the woofer: Rockford Fosgate® - Woofer WiringWizard Make sure you pay attention to the ohm ratings of the amp and woofer.

btw it will be tough to get descent sound out of a 12" and 15" playing together like that.

i must have mis phrased what i meant, i never meant that i would be running both, either one or the other. i guess i understood that you have to (obviously) draw power from the battery, but do you attach directly to the battery or is there something in between the terminals on the battery and my amp ?

you will fuse the power wire from your battery. most amp install kits come with everything you need to hook up an amp.
