Re: old school Alphasonic 2150

I am not sure the timeline for the Zed made stuff but I dont think it is.....

I just know I had one and I ran many speakers off it but it was the 50 watt version and I couldnt kill it....I gave it away after 6 yrs of hard use....

This should be built same way as it was around same time period....

but....I dont know about it being a Zed...

Can anyone comment on the quality of these vs the newer (I think) Alphasonik models that have the silver casing. There seems to be a ton of those models around. Unfortunately Alphasonik was out of the game b/f I got into car audio but they seem to have a decent reputation from stuff I've read.

Re: old school Alphasonic 2150

the one in the link and all the ones like it were made in USA....wether Zed or not...

the silver ones are average and not made in USA...

I forget exactly where but the black ones were made in California...

Like I said..I had one little 2040 ..only 40 x 2 and it went through hell and came back and never skipped a beat..

I may just buy one of these for nostalgia alone..

buddy of mine had one of these and it pounded...this was back in 1987 so these are right there late 80's or very early 90's

now just 2 left ....

they do 300 rms bridged but its old school and I am sure rated at 12 volts...

I do believe that this particular series was made in the USA. The series that followed these was designed in the USA but built in Korea. They made some decent amps back in the day, nothing stellar, but good solid amps.

The newer ones with the silver casing and the script "a" logo are nothing special at all. Just your standard overrated made in china junk.
Okay, that sounds right then. I had the later series wich were designed in the usa and made in korea.

I'm thinking you're right Mike.....I remember these as being US made models.

Wasn't Korea or Japan the FAr East countries making the amps back then if they weren't made right here in the good 'Ol USA?

I have a couple of the 2x75w models. It says Berkeley, Ca on the board but doesn't give any indication if that's where it was actually built or not. If I had to guess I'd say they were asian made. Build quality isn't great and cheap parts are used throughout. Not horrible amps but nothing to get excited over imho.

These were the first amps I ever purchased. I had the earlier version with the red/white lettering and no graphics. I beat the hell out of them without failure. I probably used them off and on for different projects over a 10 year period. I'm sure they make every bit of their rated power.

I have several old alphasonik amps and eq's in my collection. Although they won't compete with A/D/S or Orion as far as clean power, You very seldom see them broken. They are the toughest amps around in my opinion.

Welcome.....I have seen your auctions for the Alphasonic(deltasonic) amps....I see there are 2 on ebay right now matter of fact...I was thinking about them also...

some people say they arent very good...well...if you went back 20yrs then that wouldnt be the case..they were pretty good back then....might not be prettiest or cleanest...but I can say a lot worse about some other amps that cost a huge amount more....

mine was reliable..and I used it so much that there was no harness left when I last un-installed it...still working...I gave it away....

I bought one of these..I will look it over and if I decide to sell it then you guys will get the usual discount..haha...

looks like it may be for sale as I might go back to small class D amp so I can fit it under my seat and not worry about heat and my electrical system..

the battery in my car is small and since I went back to class a/b amps I dont get much time out of the battery if I try to run the stereo while I work on car or work outside...its nice to be able to do that and not have to run the car..

so I will sell this one for $100 shipped if someone wants to try it...maybe..
