I used to have a set of Audiophile 2.5 components (tweets & mids). Gave them to my cousin years ago. All his buds raved about the tweeters despite never having heard of the brand.

If I remember right they were marketed towards the crowd that was into the A/D/S 320i's, but they were somewhat cheaper.

Does anyone have any info as to what happened to the company, like, who was their parent company, did they get bought out or did they go tits up, etc?

Do you mean the Rockford Audiophile line, or there was a brand called Audiophile that was mostly used in OEM factory systems (Ford used them in a few models)?
They were a brand. When I googled them I saw a couple of SHO's that had them but didn't realize they were OEM'd to Ford. I've been out of the loop so long that the last I remember of Rockford was the Punch45, so that might give you an idea of the time frame - say very late 80's or very early 90's.

That is roughly when the line came out. The stuff was DAMN nice, but expensive. The Audiophile brand was produced by Visteon or Delphi most likely. I have no clue what factory built them or any other real info. I had a Mustang with a pair of the 10's from the factory. The speakers were pretty good once I put some actual power to them.

I don't know that brand, but do remember 2 brands that sound like that. There was AUDIOMOBILE and ALPHALAB. Audiomobile was a high end brand that was a product of Advent. The Alphalab, I don't remember much about. Just remember the 6x9's and Plates. Audiomobile was "it" for sq in the 80's... Have one of the amps. Just none of the speakers.

Thanks for the replies guys. TTJ, the brand really was Audiophile. If I can dig up an old Car Stereo Review or CA&E I'll try and scan something. Beyond that I'll try to get a look at the drivers and crossovers to see if there are any markings.
