Pioneer's Champion line is reasonably decent, not too many have any major complaints about them, considering their price. For a cheap daily driver, you could do a lot worse.

However, given you have a BMW, it seems like a slap in the face, then a nice kick in the nuts to put that sub in the car. I mean you have a $30K or more car and you're looking to put an $80 sub in it? I mean yeah, I like to save money too, but surely you can spend a little more for something noticeably better.

What's cost got to do with it? Sound more like you have a status issue.
Go for it op. Once inside a properly sealed box and paired with a good amp while at the same time tuned correctly it should provide you with satisfactory bumpage. Also opt to put in a knob to be able to control it's output depending on the song. That sub will be fine.

A friend of mine has two of these in his camry and they really do an amazing job. Personally however, if you are going single sub i would say get a 15". I have an alpine type s @ 500 watts and IMO it sounds better than a 12" at around the same power.
