I am hoping an audio guru can help me here. I have a set of hat clarus c6 component speakers. According to the specs they are crossed between mid at tweeter at 5700 hz with a 12db slope. I have the lpf for the mids set 80. Is there a preferred slope for the mids?

Agreed, and if your running a sub. it would depend on how high you want to run the sub.

The HPF on your mids won't affect your tweeters' phase further up the spectrum, but yes it can affect phasing between the mids and your sub. Some people need to reverse the polarity of their sub with a 12 db slope. Your HU might actually have an option to reverse the polarity of the sub on the fly. That way you can listen to see what sounds best.
