If you're going to do a 3 way with a dedicated midrange and these dual 8's will be midbass drivers, then I'd also consider the Peerless 830667.

It offers about 2.5mm more xmax and comes in at a lower price point. They require a little more mounting depth though. Of your two choices, I'd rather use the Scan Discovery woofer.
wow! 4 inch of mount depth it gonna be a bit tough, they all great speaker but i also lean to the Scan-peak discovery too... Time to sell my Morel virtus 6inch woofer for these Discovery woofer....

Hey does sensitivity mater when come to speaker?

I've got the Peerless SLS 6.5 and I use them as subs! Having read about 8's and the like of Hybrid L8's, JL ZR800 CW and even Alpine Type R 8's in the doors, I'd be cautious.

I have thunk about sticking things like the Peerless SLS 6.5 or Hybrid Audio I6SW in the doors, but the doors would need a shed load of bracing, or a dedicated enclosure for the likes of the 830667 surely!?!

As long as you have plenty of power to throw at the speaker sensitivity shouldn't be a concern for the most part. The only thing I would be worried about is cooking the coil from throwing extra power to the driver to compensate for lower efficiency.

I'm running the Discovery 7" in my doors with great results. They have a really nice open sound to them with a very pleasant midbass tone.

Yes. The higher the sensitivity, the less amplifier power you need to drive them to your desired volume level. :)

I have the 6.5 inch version of the Peerless nomex mids and I love them. They put out solid midbass and great midrange as well. They have handled 75 watts rms with ease. I can only assume the 8 inch version will perform even better as far as midbass. I have no experience with the Scans though.
