Hello all,
Please allow me to say thank you in advance for any help or suggestions you fine folks can give. I thought I was smart enough to do a simple amp/ speaker install but I guess I was wrong.
Car - 2007 Cadillac CTS (non-bose)
I am trying to keep the stock head unit as it really controls almost everything in my car. I have a few thoughts of upgrading but if I cant figure out the speakers I have no buisness trying this.
The setup - I am using an MTX Req-5 to get the speaker level inputs off my stock amp (need to keep that as well for many reasons). I have installed the amp which is an Infinity Kappa FIVE which is a five channel amp for the doors and sub. I have installed a new Sub which is an Infinity Kappa perfect 10. I have also changed out all the door speakers with Infinity Kappa 52.9i's.
Now for the problem that is driving me nuts. I turn on the car and no sound at all. The REQ5 turns both red led's on and the amp comes on as well. The thing that I just cant figure out is that if I touch the speaker wire going into the REQ5 with a power test cord (simple ground wire that has a light that tells you if you have power) that channel starts pumping out sound. So in a nutshell, I have to start my car, open the trunk and touch all five power speaker cables to get my radio to work. (I touch RF, LF, RR, LR, Sub positive cables)
I am really hoping that this is something easy and simple that I just cant wrap my mind around. I am assuming it must be a grounding problem as the only thing that the test cable I use to "turn on" the speakers in only attached to a ground in the car. It kind of seems like I am "jump starting each speaker manually.
Any help would be very greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read and share your knowledge.
