My buddy has 2 12" cerwin vega hed 250 watt rms 1200 peak 4 ohm, and 2 jl audio 12 w3v3.4 500 rms 1000 peak. He wants me to hook all 4 to his 2000 watt cerwin vega 42000.id mono amp 1000 watts @1 ohm 2000 watt max. How do I do this with out blowing the subs? Is it possible since all 4 subs are 4 ohm and the amp is 1ohm?? Also the 2 cerwin vega are dvc and the 2 jl audio are svc

The CV are either 2ohm or 8ohm each (parallel or series), so in reality you don't have 4 subs that are 4ohm....you have two that are 4ohm (the JL's) and two that are either 2 or 8ohm (the CV's).

I agree with maggie....read up and you'll learn why two of the four subs will be getting more power than the other two.

Ty for the replies, and while I am appreciative, I really have no interest in learning a bunch about this, I'm just trying to help a friend out. I have no personal interest in car audio. I just want to make sure I can hook this equipment together without damaging it??

Okay then wire each of the CV's in series so that they read 8ohms each. Then wire everything in parallel, assuming your getting 1000watts with the final load the two JL's will get around 333watts each and the CV's will get around 165watts each. According to the specs you gave each sub should be in a safe range.

If you go and wire everything in parallel (each sub as well) you'll end up frying the amp and probably the subs as well.
