mtx re-q, has anyone used this? and if so what are your thoughts on this product?

my factory head unit has bass, mid and treble settings (there is no subwoofer setting, even though there is a factory sub). but it seems that when i increase the bass on the hu, it increases the bass in all speakers and the sub. if i were to change out the sub and add an aftermarket amp (possibly using the mtx re-q) is there a way to keep/control the speakers and sub bass separate while still using the stock hu? sorry if i made no sense im still learning! thank you...

Get an amp with a sub level gain control and use it to control the amount of bass via your sub. If you use your factory head unit the tone controls will still be active. Set your head unit to flat or no bass gain and use the sub level control to adjust the amount of bass.
