I'm replacing the "good" stuff in my SportTrac for a much smaller setup (wife's taking the Trac ;)). I need roughly 4x100 bridgeable, any processing and X-overs are just gravy. I need this in the smallest package manageable. What do you guys know of?
  1. Lanzar Opti4x400D $200 refurb
  2. Alpine PDX 4.100 Roughly $300
  3. Kenwood x4r About $250

BTW, budget is as low as I can go and still get decent stuff. This will power Alpine Type X components (passive) and a Sundown e8.

Forgot about those. I like it, but it will likely be too expensive new. I'll check around the boards for a used one.
They do come up from time to time. I'd take the Arc over any of your other choices except maybe a PDX. Keep watching and you'll probably spot one for a good price.

Have you ever tried the x4r?

I had the pdx and the kenwoods and would take the kenwoods any day. All that processing and efficient class d power in a small chassis for 200ish cant be beat. Underrated power as well.

How underrated are we talking?
Ca&e got 135ish a channel at 13.8 4 ohms stereo. Fused at 75 amps and have it going for over a year with no problems. Runs cool and efficient. Sounds just fine. It's pretty much the perfect amp for your setup.

You can pretend it has an Italian name.

Id prefer it over the pdx because the procesing and youll be getting more power to a sub and a peq on the subchannel.

Plus you can get the optional knob which is a 1 channel peq like the basscube.

I'm digging the sound of this thing. I'll hold until AAAAAAAA gets his new Soundstream Stealths, as they may just be near the same.

You can hold if you wish. But dont forget the kenwoods were $500 at a point and the stealth's are marketed as entry level.

All Im saying is dont let the brand get in the way, look at it objectively and I cant see another 4 channel amp that can do a fraction of what these can any where near the price.

Closest is the zapco dc ref but youd have to go to the 1000 watt 4 channel to get the same amount of power (ok a little more power and more processing but 4x the price and 3x as large)

Oh, I am not afraid of the brand at all (they'd be running from a KW DVD head unit), I am just TRYING to not impulse buy the first cool thing I see. Ido that a LOT. I have a closet full of audio equipment, and another full of computer equipment. I'm trying to be good  , but you crack pushers are tough to ignore  (and I'm reading a couple older threads here about the amp).
