Hello folks, this is my first post. I have a 1989 Ford E 350 diesel van / Born Free "President" RV converted to 4WD. The motor is the old 7.3 liter IDI International that preceded the Powerstrokes. To say the vehicle is loud is an understatement, and I have taken on the project of making it a lot quieter inside.
To start with, I have divided the project into three parts, the cab floor, the dog house, and the doors.
I pulled the thick household carpeting off the flooring. The metal underneath was in good shape. A fair amount of some asphalt looking sound deadener remained stuck to the metal, and I left it. I painted several coats of white latex primer atop it all, and then applied RAAMAudio vibration dampener to about 25% of the area. Then I applied RAAMAudio self adhesive 1/8" closed cel foam. Atop that I glued on mass loaded vinyl from Trademark Soundproofing via Amazon. I put on the MLV in many pieces, overlapping them or edging them together them up tight, and then Gorilla taped all the seams.
