This thread serves two purposes - it is my first post and there is a possibility it'll be considered a dumb question - so here we are. :)

After putting a modest system in my car I find myself needing to install some sound deadening. I'm tentatively planning to put SPL tiles on the front outer door skins (about 50% coverage) with damplifier and luxury liner pro on the inner door skin (100% coverage). Will that work ok? Also, do I need to apply anything to the back of the door panel? From the factory it has some foam attached to it.

The passenger doors will probably only get the damplifier/LLP on the inner door skin as they don't have speakers mounted in them.

I'll be picking up enough damplifier and LLP to do the package shelf as well. As for the floor I plan on replacing the carpet after the first of the year so will wait to put down deadening there until then.

Thank you

Scott

Hello Scott.
Thanks for posting!

I think your plan seems pretty sound.
For the back of the door panel there are a few things you can do.
You could use some Damplifier in the areas that need it. Some factory door cards are more flimsy than other so some could stand to benifit from the extra strength that Damplifier provides.
The other thing you could do is to use the Overkill or Rattle Pad products on the back of the upholstery. These create a cushion between the metal and the plastic door card which adds pressure to both surfaces. When you put the door back in place, it will take a bit more energy to push it back in to its factory spot. This is what keep s the rattles and squeaks down.

There are always thing you can do to tweek the results, and ways you could change the outcome but I think you have a pretty good foundation laid out.

Let me know if you have any questions

I am always happy to help, regardless of whos product you use.

Thanks for the quick reply and suggestions.

I'm sure I'll have more questions when I start the installation, especially when it comes to covering the access holes in the door skin. Aluminum flashing seems popular but I'll keep reading.
