Rectangle Product Slope Font Plot

I currently have a 12” BM MKV in roughly .7cu but feel it lacks low end, which modeling more or less confirms. Under backseat of my F150.

I bought a different box that offers roughly 1.3cu gross and it will help a teeny bit it seems, and also considered going with something with higher xmax, like Alpine Type R, newest R2 version or JL W6.

MKV is red, Type R is blue same volumes, tunes and power (overdriving the MKV a little I know)

However, I’m thinking porting to 25 or 30 Hz maybe what I’m after. One of the boxes for my F150 was tuned to 33Hz and that seems higher than I want to be. JL recommends their W6 at the same tune, with TS somewhat similar and models near the type R.

I have 750W RMS @ 1 ohm and just wondering what you all think on the tuning frequency being so low or if 33hz would be good enough.
Thanks!

Thanks. I think I’m just spoiled on ported applications. The MKV is a great woofer and I don’t think I’ll gain much from just a woofer swap.

My other option is to maybe add external port to the 1.3 cu and see how that sounds before buying another box and/or woofer.

The bmmkv is not an spl monster. I had to put 2 in my 2019 tundra crewmax per Nick. He knows my likes and he said to do 2 and I am glad I did.
mine play down to 20hz clean but it is VERY different than an sql12. It seems like it’s not playing like it is but with a mic it does. It is also extremely clean. If you want more output a different sub is the way to go not porting a box for the bmmkv. It’s not designed for that and you will probably destroy it. Those are becoming unicorns now and if you mess it up in a ported box I doubt you can get it repaired much less replaced. Sell it and buy something else with more output.
I love mine but it’s because I have 2. One wouldn’t do it for me at all. Just some thoughts.
But I think caution would be not to port it, it’s designed to run in a tiny sealed enclosure and the trade off is clean bass without the output of long throw subs.
It’s xbl motor will not warn you before it bottoms and hurts itself it why it shouldn’t be used in a ported box if I remember correctly.

I bought a used bmmkV a few weeks back and it died within 3 hours. Posted in the SI group on FB and Nick said they do not have parts to fix these anymore. So now I have a really nice looking paper weight

I will buy that from you. 100% serious. I harvest the motors and build 8's and 10's with them.

Have you seen the basket and motor design on these drivers? If not, I’d advise you to take a look.
I am pretty sure he is removing the magnets from the original driver and using in a different baskets.
