Noob question time

I am trying to lay out where amps and the subs are going in my trunk.
The car is a Kia Forte.

The subs are a pair of 10" Rockford fosgate 2series.

Is it a aim the subs up, and see what they sound like, and then forward and try it?

Or is forward through the rear seats the best?

depends on the car - in small hatchbacks it is best to face them to the back or up, with sedans it is usually better to face them to the rear seat backrest. But there are a lot more options avaliable - from downfiring, IB, Side wall (sealed or ported), bandpass with output routed trough the port directly into the cabin,....

Generally, pushed up against the rear of the trunk/hatch opening w/ the subs facing the rear is best. But that also makes the trunk inaccessible. Many people, myself included, compromise by putting the sub box against the back of the rear seat w/ the subs facing the rear of the car.

This website has a detailed explanation: http://www.installer.com/tech/aiming.html
