To the OP, I think this is a great post.

Reminds me of the time i was riding in a fiberglass body cruise boat. It had two generic jensen 6.5" coax mounted in the inner side hull of the boat which provided an incredibly rigid mounting surface and completely sealed off the back wave. It had the best midbass I've heard from a 6.5, and im not sure if its even possible to get that performance in a car door without building large sealed enclosures.
